Oatmeal

Nothing is better on a cold, crisp winter morning than a comforting bowl of oatmeal with some fresh fruit on the side.  Lots of grocery stores carry oatmeal brands and types that are 'healthy' or have added protein to them.  Some that come in a box can have the added 'cream' to make it more appealing to purchase but the long and short of it is that whole rolled oats or steel cuts oats, made the old-fashioned way, are still the best and healthiest choice for you.  Here is a simple starter recipe that anyone can do and can be added on to, to make a delicious and filling breakfast.
Start by taking a small pot, add the oats to the pot with the almond milk or oat milk.

Bring the pot and contents to a boil stirring a couple of times. Stir in some cinnamon for some extra flavor.

Once it starts to boil, turn the heat off and let sit for up to 10 minutes for the oats to tenderize. While the oats finish cooking, dice up some strawberries or your favorite fruit.

For some extra protein, add some of your favorite granola or crushed pecans.  You can also add some pumpkin seeds, brown sugar, maple syrup or agave syrup if you prefer it sweeter.  Have fun and make it yours.

Enjoy!
